Mr Justice Charleton participates in 'Soirée du Droit'
On 9 October, Mr Justice Peter Charleton took part in a ‘Soirée du Droit’ (translation: an evening of law) hosted by the French Embassy in Ireland at the UCD Sutherland School of Law.
The event centred around a panel discussion on the subject of ‘The Rule of Law and Democracy in France and Ireland’, and featured contributions by researchers from the University of Bordeaux and University of Lille, Mr Justice Charleton, and Marie-Luce Paris, Director of the UCD Centre for Human Rights. The discussion was moderated by Laurent Pech, Dean of Law at UCD, and the event was opened by Céline Place, French Ambassador to Ireland. The panel discussion was followed by a questions-and-answers session.
The event was inspired by the 'Nuit du Droit' in France which was held to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the French Constitution.
