European Court of Human Rights Judicial Seminar

On 26 January, the Chief Justice, Mr Justice Donal O'Donnell, the President of the Court of Appeal, Mr Justice George Birmingham, and the Attorney General, Mr Rossa Fanning SC, all attended a judicial seminar held by the European Court of Human Rights to mark the solemn opening of Court's new legal year. 

The theme of this year's seminar was 'Revisiting Subsidiarity in the Age of Shared Responsibility'. The seminar was opened by the President of the Court, Judge Síofra O'Leary, and discussions spanned a wide range of topics including the impact of Protocol 15 to the European Convention on Human Rights on the principle of subsidiarity, as well as an exchange of views between national judges on subsidiarity.
