Mr Justice Charleton welcomes a delegation from Zambia to the Supreme Court

On Tuesday 14 May, a delegation from Zambia were welcomed to the Supreme Court by Mr Justice Charleton.  The visit was organised through Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI), a project-orientated NGO which is dedicated to promoting the rule of law and human rights in developing countries. 

Members of the delegation included: Mr Mulilo D. Kabesha SC, Attorney General, Mr Gilbert Phiri SC, Director of Public Prosecutions, Ms Daphne Pauline Soko Chabu, Director General of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Mr Nason Banda, Director General of the Drug Enforcement Commission, Ms Bubala Chibbonta, Chief Parliamentary Counsel, Mr Nason Banda, Director General of the Drug Enforcement Commission.  The visiting delegation were joined by HE Ms Bronagh Carr, Ambassador of Ireland to Zambia, Mr Brian Caden, First Secretary of the Embassy of Ireland in Zambia, Maria McCloskey, Executive Director, IRLI, Mr Norville Connolly, Country Director, Zambia, IRLI, Mr Seán McHale, Director of Programmes and Elena Moustaka, Programme Manager.  

Mr Justice Murray also attended and to discuss the operation of Irish legislation relevant to the forfeiture of the proceeds of crime.
