Chief Justice attends 'EUnited in Diversity III' conference in Bulgaria

Over 3-5 September 2025, the Chief Justice attended the third ‘EUnited in Diversity’ international conference in Sofia, Bulgaria hosted jointly by the President of the CJEU and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria. The conference was attended by representatives of Constitutional or equivalent courts of 21 EU Member States. The primary theme of the conference was ‘The Role of Constitutional Justice in the Common Legal Order of the European Union’.
The conference focused on four topics:
· ‘The Allocation of Competences between the Member States and the European Union’
· ‘Identity of the EU and EU constitutionalism in times of crisis: Constitutional Courts and the Court of Justice’
· ‘Different National Constitutional Law Constellations Relevant for EU law’
· ‘Application and Interpretation of EU Law: Constitutional Courts and the Court of Justice’In addition, administrative staff of the participating courts participated in a session on “The Impact of Digital Technologies on the Work of the Courts”. This session was attended by Ms Sarah Rose Murphy, Senior Executive Legal Officer to the Chief Justice.
