Third Lecture in Hardiman Lecture Series

Today, 18 June, saw the third instalment in this year’s Hardiman Lecture Series take place in the Supreme Court.

The lecture was delivered by Eileen Barrington SC who examined the recent decision of the Supreme Court in M.D. v. A Secondary School [2024] IESC 11, a case which concerned a student's application for an interlocutory injunction restraining his expulsion from a school pending the outcome of a statutory appeal, and its effect on the law of injunctions and the jurisdiction of the High Court in that regard.

The Hardiman Lecture Series was named in honour of the late Mr Justice Adrian Hardiman following his sudden passing in 2016. Mr Justice Hardiman had been a series participant every year since its inception in 2013 alongside the establishment of the Chief Justice's Summer Placement Programme for Law Students under the Chief Justiceship of Ms Justice Susan Denham.
