On Monday 7 October, Ms Justice Caroline Costello made, in open court, the declaration required by Article 34.6.1° of the Constitution and was sworn in as the new President of the Court of Appeal. By virtue of her new position, Ms Justice Costello is now also an ex officio judge of the Supreme Court.
Ms Justice Costello is the third President of the Court of Appeal since its establishment in 2014, succeeding Mr Justice George Birmingham.
