Supreme Court robes exhibited in Slovenia
Throughout 2024, the Slovenian judiciary has been celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Courts Act and Judicial Service Act. The laws redefined the organisation and management of the courts in Slovenia and introduced, for the first time, the requirement for judges, prosecutors and attorneys to wear robes during public hearings. The robes were intended to symbolise the dignity of the judicial process and emphasise the principles of independence and impartiality.
To mark this anniversary, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Slovenia recently hosted a special exhibition which showcased the robes worn by Supreme Court judges across the European Union member states. The Supreme Court of Ireland was pleased to lend one of its robes for the occasion, which was held to coincide with the European Day of Justice.
