Network of Presidents Annual Conference 2024

On 4 October, Chief Justice O’Donnell attended the annual conference of the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union which took place in Athens, Greece, at the Academy of Athens. The conference featured presentations and exchanges between the members of the Network on two key themes: the impact of European law on national law and the attractiveness of the judiciary.

The Network is an organisation made up of the Presidents of the Supreme Courts of all 27 EU member states.  The Presidents of the Supreme Courts of the United Kingdom, Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland are associate members, and the Presidents of the Supreme Courts of Albania, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine are observers.

The purpose of the Network is to provide a forum through which the Supreme Court Presidents can meet and discuss issues of common interest and exchange ideas.  It also acts as an avenue through which European institutions can consult with EU Supreme Courts.
