Appeal Process
A party dissatisfied with a decision of the High Court or the Court of Appeal may apply to bring an appeal to the Supreme Court. This process is summarised below. For detailed guidance on how to bring an appeal to the Supreme Court, please see Practice Direction SC19.
Preparation of Application of Leave
Applicant files and notifies the respondent of the appeal.
Determination of Application
A panel of three judges reviews the application in private deliberations.
Case Management Process
Judge assigned to manage procedural compliance and preparation.
Judgment
The judgment in the appeal is delivered publicly in open court.
