A Deed Poll is is most often used to declare an intention to change your name. It is a signed declaration that binds you to a particular cause of action from the date of signing. A Deed Poll for a change of name contains a sworn statement that you abandon the use of your old name and Intend to be known as and use your new name at all times and in all dealings.
There is no automatic requirement to enrol a Deed Poll as it generally has the same effect as a Deed Poll which has not been enrolled. Some institutions will only accept a Deed Poll that has been enrolled in the Central Office.
